Texas SLIM - Driving Blues 2009

Texas SLIM - Driving Blues 2009
Label: Music Avenue

Blues

Texas Slim lays down authentic Texas Blues gristle that gets right to the heart; always rockin’, but also soulful, and sometimes sweet. The sassy guitar work that slides off his fingers has "Texas" written all over it. Most guitar players just dream of being half this good.

It is a bit confusing with all those Slims in blue zone.
For clarity this is not another Slim elderly black blues protagonist, but a relatively young white blue dog.  He was born Robert Sullivan in Dallas and received his name from Bluesman Alex Moore, whom he met in'78 and went in the eighties with Little Joe Blue. Encounters of crucial importance for his further musical development.  Slim is not really a striking voice but withdrew from the good work.  As a guitarist he is of the Texas school previously gunslingers as Johnny Winter, Jimmie Vaughan uitstuurde.  Scorch blue agreements sometimes by a rocking structure.  Listen again to the title track, a swampy stomper that recalls the early Fabulous Thunderbirds and "Coffee Shop Girl" is truncated rhythmic riffs of guitar and piano constructed refer to Chuck Berry.  It may have something to do with the presence of Aaron Comes the Spin Doctors, who are the rhythm section alone bestiert and production conditions and that is excellent.  But there is obviously blues on this disc.  The torrid opener "Welcome to The Game" and the soul tinged "Cool With The Flow" with shrill guitar run anything right in the spotlight.  Even if the pace is even reduced as in 'Three Bridges Blues' Texas Slim remains effortlessly up.  A solid blue work of a professional Texas.  But then you can adopt in the coming summer festival stages where he was the black singer EC Scott will be taking.
