A historical record in the annals of Spanish jazz history: the years 1968 ran in Madrid and the student revolt revolutionized France and Franco's leaders worried. Hampton Hawes had a contract for 2 weeks with the late-Jazz Whiskey Madrid and through the mediation of Juan Claudio Cifuentes, Hispavox got this wonderful concert recorded at 3 am on grandísmo maestro Pedro Iturralde and his quartet with Hampton Hawes on piano .

Jazz

It begins in the early musical studies at age 9 years and debuted as a saxophonist.
For 18 years conducted a tour abroad since his return from the race course saxophone at the Conservatory of Music of Madrid where he resides.
After a tour of the Lebanon, Greece, Turkey, France and Germany he returned to Madrid, on the old Jazz W. with his quartet and guest artists like Donald Byrd, Hampton Hawes, Lee Konitz and Gerry Mulligan and others.
Create fusion jazz - adding later Flemish Paco de Lucía on guitar to perform in Berlin.
Acting in London with the All-Star Big Band "in Europe, at the Palais Beaux Arts in Brussels with his quartet with the orchestra in Helsinki Umo, at Berklee Performance Center Boston quintet and Larry Monroe in the" All Star Faculty Big Band. "
Acting with the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife and Asturias, under the direction of Matthias Aeschbacher.
Performed in the Teatro Real with his jazz quartet, with the Chamber Orchestra of Victor Martin, with the RTVE Symphony Orchestra and the National Spain under the baton of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Sergiu Celibidache, Igor Markevitch, Enrique García Asensio and Jesús López Cobos and others, whose orchestra performed at the National Auditorium and performed several tours in Europe, two in Japan and the USA.
Professor at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid.

Pedro Iturralde was born in Falces (Navarra). He started his musical studies when he was very young and at the age of nine he made his debut as a saxophonist. After a long tour around Lebanon, Greece, Turkey, France and Germany, he established his residence in Madrid, where he played mainly in the Whisky Jazz Club with his quartet, with Tete Montoliu and with guest artists such as Donald Byrd, Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz and Hampton Hawes with whom he recorded the LP Pedro Iturralde Quartet Featuring Hampton Hawes (present BLUE NOTE CD).

Through the performance of Andalusian thermes adapted to Jazz with his quintet, he created the so-called Jazz-Flamenco style (1964-66), subsequently adding flamenco guitar (Paco de Antequera and Paco de Algeciras) for the recording of 2 LPs (currently on CD with the BLUE NOTE label) and for the concert at the Berlin Jazz Festival (1967) and the recording of the LP Flamenco Jazz with Paco de Lucía on the guitar. He has performed in London with the European “All Star Big Band”, at the Palais des Beaux-Arts (Brussels) with his quartet and at the Beklee Performance Center in Boston with the “All Star Faculty Big Band”. Since 1965, he has collaborated with the National Orchestra of Spain, conducted by Frühbeck de Burgos, Sergiu Celibidache, López Cobos, E. García Asensio and Walter Weller among others, touring Europe, Japan and the USA and performing most of the orchestral saxophone repertoire.
